Maeva was our first student for our brand new Natural light underwater photography course. It was a real pleasure to see the result! After a first day of practicing her buoyancy and position in the water, she went straight on wide angle photography with the Canon G7x. A few photoshop sessions to get all her shots to the top of their game and she was back in the water shooting macro with the Nauticam Super macro converter lens.

Maeva: “The most difficult was to get the animals in focus. I had nightmare about that every night! Also, handling your buoyancy when you shoot in macro is very complicated. I realised how difficult it is to stay still to get a good shot.

A great course with a lot of amazing subjects to shoot: Juvenile painted frogfish, Clownfish eggs, tons of ornate gostpipe fish, sea horses, turtles…. “It was a great course! I learnt a lot about underwater photography of course but also about marine life and diving. On the top of that, the atmosphere during the course was amazing with my instructor Simon always getting excited about finding life.

If like Maeva, you want to learn underwater photography, El Nido is a perfect environment for training. We offer courses for every level adaptable to your needs. Check out our underwater photography course page.
